ニュージーランドで最も古いコミュニティー・カレッジ

コミュニティー・カレッジと聞くとアメリカやカナダの２年生大学を思い浮かべますが、ニュージーランドでは普通、高校はCollegeと呼ばれています。


Hagley Community College　の教頭先生Mr. Rex Gibsonが名古屋オフィスに来社されました。相変わらず派手な印象的なネクタイを締めてニコニコしながらやってこられました。入学時期は１月、次は４月末、７月、１０月。いま決断し手続きすれば、４月末からの高校留学が可能かもしれません

この学校はニュージーランドで最も古い（1858創立）公立高校です。全校生徒数1,700名、ニュージーランドでは珍しく制服がありません。公立学校の中では、ニュージーランド最大規模の英語センターを併設しており、英語力が一定の基準に達するまで受講することができます。クライストチャーチの中心部、Hagley Park（ハグレー公園）に隣接しており、都会にいながら緑豊かな環境で学ぶことができます。又、ファッション、映画、シアター、ダンス、アート、ツーリズム、幼児教育、ジュエリーデザイン等の科目も開講されている為、高校課程修了後、それらの科目を履修することもできます。地元の社会人のためのプログラムを提供してのるので１９歳以上の学生全体の４５％います。高校なのに大人がたくさんいると驚かないでくださいね。　　嵐（あらし）名古屋オフィス

Hagley Community College　： A dynamic centre of learningHagley is a dynamic centre of learning that is significantly different from other New Zealand secondary schools.At Hagley you can study irrespective of age (45% of the students attending Hagley are aged 19 and over), study full-time or part-time, and select from one one of the largest selections of courses available among New Zealand secondary schools.There are a great variety of short courses and long-term programmes to match your study requirements. Both traditional and non-traditional programmes are offered such as English, Science, Maths, Psychology, Sociology and Philosophy. Specialist fulltime programmes also abound. They include Film, Design and Animation, Foundation Studies in Visual Arts, The Dance Company, Business and Management Studies and the International Theatre of Performing Arts.

The College is divided into three divisions:

Junior College (Years 9 - 10)　

Senior College (Years 11 - 13)

Hagley International English Language Centre(Fulltime courses and ESOL English subject classes)
